a little about lissi kaplan

Artist/Author/Designer

Lissi Kaplan is a fine artist whose hand-painted porcelains are in the collections of dignitaries, heads of state, and private collectors around the world. Her one-of-a-kind tea services are proudly used and sold at the Peninsula and were celebrated at the Montage Hotel Beverly Hills and the El Encanto Hotel in Santa Barbara, including a tea collection, honoring the late Nancy Reagan, displayed at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, among others. Her watercolor paintings have been collected internationally.

Lissi is a popular guest speaker on the subject of the unique history of China painting which dates back to 1400 A.D. Lissi also incorporates into her presentation the art of exploring and finding ones passion at any age.

Lissi is the author and illustrator of The Power of a Teacup: A Story of Art, Love, and Sacred Gardens, published by ReganBooks in 2003. She is also the author and illustrator of her newly released book, Light as a Feather, published by Little Finch Press.

Lissi is a graduate of USC where she majored in sociology and studied voice as an opera singer. She then went on to complete a three year interior design program at UCLA; subsequently launching her own interior design business where she operated for ten years before transitioning full time as a porcelain artist and author.

Lissi has three grown children and four grandchildren who she considers to be her greatest works of art and is most proud of. She lives in Los Angeles, California.

“When I learned this ancient art form, it touched my heart. I knew I was born to be a porcelain artist and have devoted my life to it. Each design celebrates the unique beauty and personality of nature's family of flowers. A little piece of my heart is in each tiny petal."
